I started in the field of hair replacement over 50 years ago, at the age of 18. I was working in a beauty shop after graduating beauty school. I really disliked the work and thought, “I did all this for nothing!”
Around the corner from the salon there was a wig store. I walked in cold off the street and asked if they needed help. I was hired at minimum wage and loved the work. Within a year, I had the keys, was doing the books, and having a blast!
This company also had a men’s division with hair systems made right on the premises. This is before the imports took over. I gravitated toward being one of the first women in a male dominated field and was with this company for over 30 years. As time went on, I wanted more than to be a manager. After working at a few other studios, I went on my own at 62!
I knew what I liked and disliked about each place I had worked, learned from each one, and finally decided, IT’S NOW OR NEVER! Founding my own business, Christine Pusateri Hair Solutions, was the scariest, most rewarding thing I have ever done.
